Answers to the volleyball set quiz

4i7,

4 of you didn't manage to complete the quiz, unfortunately. For the 36 of you, answers are out!

1) Where should the ball be when you SET it?

Ans: On top of your head

(Good job, 34 of you got this right! Remember we always said it should NEVER be in front of your face!)

2) What are the cues for setting?

Ans: Chicken wings, triangle window above head, fingertips to set

(Awesome job everyone, all of you got this!)

3) When we set the ball, it must be nice and _________, into the sky?

Ans: High

(Once again, all of you were definitely listening! Well done!)

4) Which part of your body should contact the ball when you SET the ball?

Ans: Fingertips

(Those of you that chose palms, you were careless! Think back to your cues for setting!)

5) Where does the power come from when you perform the volleyball SET?

Ans: Legs

(For the 14 of you that chose legs, well done! The power from the set is exactly like the power from the dig and both skills require power from your legs, remember the pop? This was not mentioned ENOUGH in class but now you know! While your arms seem to do the work, your legs also have to add to the power if you want it to go high!)

Mr Ng will definitely remember to remind you in your next lessons about using the "pop" when you set as well!

Some simple volleyball rules

Dear 4i7,

Here are some simple volleyball rules:/-
1) The ball has to stay within the lines of the court
2) To win a point, the ball has to pass over the net and land within the court
3) Each side is only allowed 3 passes before the ball HAS to be passed over the net
4) A player cannot have 2 consecutive hits
5) If your team wins a point on your serve, your team continues to serve (rotation in the game will be explained in class)
6) First team to reach 25 points wins

You can visit this site below if you are interested in reading up on more of the rules!

Simplified Volleyball Rules

Don't worry too much if you don't understand! We will go through this in class.

3-2-1 Reflections

4i7,

I trust you had fun playing the online game. As mentioned, it is not all about playing a computer game. You must have learnt something from the game!

Take a minute to think about what you learnt before filling up the "3-2-1 Reflections" form you can find below.

3-2-1 Reflections

Make sure you number each point you make clearly when you do the reflections!

Answers to the volleyball dig quiz

4i7,

Good job on the digging quiz. Here are the answers to the questions! Some of you were careless!

1) Where should the ball be when you dig it?

Ans: IN FRONT

(Some of you chose on top, you got confused with setting!)

2) What are the cues for digging?

Ans: Arms out, elbows locked, knees bent, pop when ball comes down

(Good job 4i7, all of you have been listening in class!)

3) Where should you face when you want the ball to go right?

Ans: Face right

(Remember, you face the direction in which you want the ball to go! 30 of you got this right! Good job!)

4) Which part of your body should contact the ball when you dig the ball?

Ans: Forearms

(Again, some of you got confused here. The palm return is a modified form of the dig. The real dig as you were taught after, involves the forearm. Those that chose knees, you were to eager! That answer is for the LAST QUESTION!)

5) Where does the power come from when you perform the volleyball dig?

Ans: Legs

(Only 3 got this wrong. Don't be confused. Remember to read the questions carefully, just like you do in your exams!)

Answers are out, make sure you do the next quiz!

4i7,

Good job those of you who did the quiz!

Here are the answers!

1) What are the categories of games/sports?

Ans: Target, Net/Barrier, Striking/Fielding, Invasion

(Some of you chose the first option - Net/Ball, Invasion, Counterstrike, Target - This means you didn't read it properly! Counterstrike is a computer game not a sport category!)

2) What sport is the TrickyDuck?

Ans: Volleyball

(All of you got this right! Good Job!)

3) What sport/game category does the TrickyDuck game fall under?

Ans: Net/Barrier

(Some of you chose the striking/fielding category but remember it usually involves a group that is batting, and another group fielding, for example, baseball. Volleyball is a net/barrier game because of the net in the game!)

4) How many basic moves do you think the sport involves (excluding tricky moves)?

Ans: 3

(He hit the ball across the net using a serve, he used the dig, which you learnt, and the set, which you just learnt!)

5) How do you think a point is scored in the game?

Ans: When it crosses the net and it hits the ground within the court

(Most of you got this right! Remember that it is not enough that it crosses the net, it has to land in your opponent's court!)

Remember to do the next quiz on digging!
